aaAAAaaaAAAH.

Word, I'm frustrated >_>; You think that the people at school would be a little more considerate and send the letters of required reading for AP English a little earlier than a month before school starts. Either that or the letter came in a few days earlier and I was not informed.

I have three books to read, and I'm afraid that I won't like any of them. I haven't enjoyed reading any books required for English since... never, most likely. Last summer was such a drag --- (it took me all of June and July to finally make myself finish The Grapes of Wrath. Steinbeck. AaaAAAAaaahh)

And the fact that all the copies are checked out from the Library means that I'll have to purchase the books myself. Books that I may end up hating for the rest of my life. (*cough*ToaGodUnknownSteinbeck*cough*)

I think I'm really upset about this mainly because I was hoping that August would be my break month. I had summer school in June and spent all of July studying for an exam, and August would have been my casual review for SATII's and Application processes. Now I have three books to read in four weeks. I'm so very depressed...

But I should have known things wouldn't work out how I wanted. They never do. (waaayy too emo for my own liking.)

Fwah. Well, in other news, I've sort of passed through my killer artist's block. Haha, I was looking through my old dA gallery and amused myself to find out that 24 people stalked me after I left. And the fact that I got so many pageviews was also quite amusing. Well that's over with.

Oh, and um.. about dA...if you're interested in knowing about my resurrected alias, let me know. I'm in hiding ⌐_⌐;

So I need to cool my nerves. Please talk to me, especially if I haven't talked to you in a while. How are you?

I'm also sorry for being gone for so long and not replying to anybody's journals. As stated, my summer's been a drag and just an extension of school. AaaAAaahhhh. But if it makes you feel better, I've probably read most of them.

sorry, I probably should have put all of that into an lj cut. Unfortunetely since my lack of time spent here, I don't have the 'HTML' memorized and I'm too lazy to find it ._.;

EXTENDED ENTRY:

I've wastefully spent the last half hour looking for a decent picture of Alviss to make an avatar. Unfortunetly, my online searching skills are horrendous, so I have to make-do with Phantom. Oh Phantom, you're so evil. I want your mask O_o;

Oh, they're characters that belong to MÄR: Marchen Awakens Romance. Rachel lent me the manga to read, and it's pretty good. Hm.. it's been a really long time since I've read manga.

And I love my sister. She bought me a Caedmon's Call CD when she was at SpringHill this weekend. *HEART* My lovely, lovely sister.

'The King of Attolia' came out recently and I had just finished reading it. (It's an easy read. Twenty minutes a night and you'll probably finish it in two weeks.) And then I noticed that in the inside cover, it said 'Ages 10 and up'. Gosh I'm a loser. Still, I think that Youth writers are more skilled and produce more interesting books than the authors that write books more of my level.(Well, for Fantasy anyways. I still haven't found an adult fantasy writer that I like yet.) But really, I read 'The Thief' (the prequel to 'King of Attolia') when I was in fifth grade >_>; Megan Whalen Turner really ought to write faster.

Oh, and I gave up doodling (I practically already gave up drawing since the beginning of this school year >__>) for Lent (for pleasure. Obviously when Pathology calls me to draw diseased cardiac cells, I have no choice.) Ha..ha....let's see how that goes. I have.. about five weeks to go? And this week and half was horrid, especially when I was sitting in a 6 hour ACT class yesterday and the teacher just talked at us... I had so much... blank, white area... .. in my practice test booklet. I lost the will to live two + a half hours into it when the teacher was teaching us how to use linear equations. From Algebra I. ALGEBRA. Egad.


So, now that you guys know that I'm not completely dead, I'll go now.

So. We get five inches. And they declare a snow day. And now I have to take a government test on monday on things I have not learned yet, let alone studied.

Well, not that I don't like the snow day, mind you, it's just that now that everything's moved to monday, (including a calc. quiz that I would rather have gotten over with) it's just going to be extra bad.

So I just wasted the past hour in scanning/uploading some sketches. It's been a while.

I know nobody reads these, but I have to shout out to everyone nonetheless ^o^;

Thank you everyone for your warm wishes! Especially with PSAT's around the corner, having everybody wishing me a happy birthday made me feel very happy ^o^

And Preetraj gave me $20 ;__; That was uncalled for. She's too nice to me ;___;

Also it just occurred to me that I'm not 15 anymore, it's so sad =_=;

And JARS OF CLAY was AMAZING. They were so much better on stage than they are in the records, and I never knew they had such a sense of humor. They were such nice guys, I wish I could have met them. And they played for us the song they wrote for Narnia (the Movie) It was such a beautiful song..

And I changed my av. to Al from Aria. I realized that all the characters in that manga (and soon to be anime) have names that start with A. Well, all of them except for President Hime, but she's a cat ._.;

Hello everyone!

I decided to stop by and say hello. It's been five weeks of school already, but it seemed so much longer than that! I may as well give you an update on my extraordinarily [exciting] life.

Summary: Chemistry is okay, Spanish is better than last year, Government is strange, Economics is boring, Calculus is interesting (when we're there T_T; ), and 20th century lit. is just dull. I think if there is a class I look forward to in the day, it's Calculus. That's so wrong.

I'm considering entering the Reflection's contest. I think I probably would have entered by now if the theme wasn't so dumb.

No art life for Becki anymore. Well, except her new hobby for vandalizing planners.

Piano is better. The piano is now tuned, so I feel better about playing it. (Before I would get discouraged because I sounded so bad when I played >_>; )

I read a lot more than usual. But I have yet to finish a book since summer ended ^^; I'm just reading four books at the same time, which probably isn't a very efficient method.

JoC concert in October! Normally I don't go to concerts, (tickets cost so much..) but my mother decided since it was close to my Birthday, she'd send my sister and me to go see it. Also Chris Rice is touring with them, so it's double the incentive to go. (Argh, I'm talking economics talk ToT; )

I haven't been reading much manga lately either. I try to keep up with my favorite webmanga, but I have found some good published ones. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind by Hayao Miyazaki himself is a really good series, but lately I've been really fanatic over Aria by Kozue Amano. So definitely read that if anything.

Well, that's about it. Thanks for reading ^^;

(Oh! And I also tweaked my journal a bit. The other theme was way outdated.)

I got back from camping today ._.; I don't know why I decided to log on.. I guess I had nothing better to do.. I'll probably leave soon and write or read The Heavenly Man or something..

Tomorrow's my last day of summer.. I need to get ready for school.. but there isn't much I can do ._.; Oh, and my schedule got messed up, so I have to go to Adams during fifth hour to take my math class T_T;; I don't even know who my teacher will be.. Anybody from AHS know who the Calc teacher is?

So I'll go back to my own business.. sorry for wasting your time ._.;

I didn't have enough money to buy it this time, so I was going to accept the fact I would probably buy it in a few years. But then Scribe-kun was all: "No, I'll buy it for you!" and Becki was all :"NO! DON'T DO IT." and Becki threatend him with death.

And he did it anyways. Although now I feel really bad that he did, I have to find some way to repay him somehow.. I know I will T_T;; Maybe I'll bake him.. a cake..? @___@;

...It's snowing T_T In late April T_T About two inches T_T How wrong is that? >__<;;

Yay, all tests and projects are OVER WITH.

I'm a bit upset about the grade on my bio test, but oh well, I never cared about Evolution and an A- isn't too bad... =__= Besides, I aced my math test again, so that's always good.

Haha, today at church the children's choir sang Dive by Steven Curtis Chapman and I thought of Katy XD Last time they sung Cartoons by Chris Rice, that was rather amusing too.

Anyways, I don't have any new art of the sort. I need to finish a few things, but I've been so lazy that I didn't want to do anything after last week. I'm thinking of uploading some old art onto DA later.. maybe.. I don't particularly want to go upstairs right now to scan something, so I'll post it later. Argh, I don't know why I'm being so indolent >_>;;

Lately I've been planning a lot of things I want to do in the future. It's been a dream of mine for the longest time to draw a webmanga, but I felt I was never ready. So I've been working a lot on my stories and character designs. It's really wierd, but I'm working on four different stories right now: Eclipse, Road to Talis, and an untitled one that I've been working on for a bit. And then my non-existant webmanga Revival. So yes, basically I've been wasting my life daydreaming stories and characters.

If you had any doubts that I didn't have a social life, they're probably gone now -__-

Eep, this journal entry was a complete waste of time. I'm going to try and comment on some people's journals now.

ARGH! Bad week bad week bad week!

...It's only tuesday, you say? STILL IT'S BEEN A BAD WEEK!

Becki Rants

Okay! First of all in Creative Writing! (I'll start with school first) I was told yesterday that our Children's Book projects are due THURSDAY. And we just started last THURSDAY. I have to finish writing the story and finish drawing/CGing 15+ pictures by THURSDAY. And he expects the pictures to not be of the highest quality..

BUT I AM AN OVER ACHIEVER/PERFECTIONIST/ARTIST. I CAN'T PURPOSEFULLY DO A LOW QUALITY PICTURE FOR THE SAKE OF FINISHING IT IN TIME.

I'm sorry, it's not in my genes T_T And speaking of Biology... wait.. I won't get into that or I'll get mad again T______T I have to write another speech in LA 10 Honors this week and perform it too. That'll be fun >_>;

And then pre-calc! I'm way behind in my extra math work, and I have almost nine lessons + a chapter review to finish soon. Enough said.

And now for the non-school stuff! I won't say anything about Key Club, cuz that's always given me stress, and it's just worse this week. So I'll go on to Piano.

I completely messed up at the recital last sunday. Completely. Memorization failure due to stress. So now I need to practice it more for competition in two weeks. And I'm really worried about that, especially since I completely botched the performance on sunday.

Youth Musical at School. I have to draw a picture during one of the songs. On a large canvas. Within four minutes. I kinda need to practice that too T_T;; And the youth musical is next sunday. Nobody knows their lines/roles/choreography/lyrics/harmonies/when to enter stage/when to leave stage/what to wear. And we kinda have two more practices before the performance. And above that, people are so busy with the 'fashion show' within the show that they're not even focusing on the MESSAGE of the musical. Argh!

.........*sigh~~* You're probably wondering why I'm not off doing what I'm supposed to be. Well, I'm too stressed to concentrate on ANYTHING. Yesterday my head was just about to explode. So now I decided to rant online just because I can. *fumes* Stress is bad, stress is bad.

Anyways, I'm doing the 30 hour famine this year, and I'm in desperate need of sponsors. So I'll have to hunt for people who will be willing to help. It's a really good cause, so I really shouldn't be so pressured about it.

Aigo... I'm leaving now. Hopefully I'll live long enough to post another time ._.

Yay! Spring Break!

I get to do some more catch-up work now! *;___; stares at desk with books and paper*

But it's been really fun so far ^^ I got to see Kitty and have some.. fun at Jessy's house ^o^ (I still can't believe you made me play as Shigure T_T; )

I have 'My Redeemer Lives' by Nicole C. Mullen stuck in my head ._.; Someone at church sang it today, so it'll be stuck there for quite some time. (The new Jars of Clay CD came out last tuesday. *shot*) I'm debating whether to get a Caedmon's Call CD or the new Jars of Clay one.. (*shot again*)

We got a rabbit last monday ^^; Her name is Naomi, and she's so funny XD She really likes running around and loves attention more. Strange, because rabbits are supposed to be solitary. Oh well, she's really cute ^_^

*sigh* Just another excuse to indulge yourself. Nobody really even cares about the number. (well, I think radians are more useful than degrees.. *shot*)

We don't have school tomorrow, so we 'celebrated' pi day on Friday. Whoohoo, lucky me, I get to spend all of tomorrow catching up on my mounds of pre-calculus stuff.. and then I get to study for my trig test on wednesday/thursday.. no biggie, I guess.

I just finished my English homework. ...just for everybody so they are well warned..

DON'T READ 'TO A GOD UNKNOWN' BY JOHN STEINBECK. IT IS A TERRIBLE BOOK AND IT IS COMPLETELY SACRILEGIOUS.

Not to mention the fact that I think Steinbeck had some major issues..

Anyways! I heard a new song by Chris Rice on the radio a few days ago. It was called Me and Becky. When I first heard it, my sister's like 'Becki!' Haha.. ha. T_T; It's strange, whenever I hear 'Becky', in my head, I think 'Becki' because that's what I'm used to. It's a really good song too. Chris Rice is so awesome .__.;;

*sigh* I got better, but then I got a freak cold thing on Friday. Not.. fair.

I'm so sorry everybody that I can't ever comment on your journals >_>; I have a little time before I'm going to go do my math stuff, so I need to type quickly.

This weekend was fun.. I still have to practice for my Piano competition thing, and I still haven't completely memorized the piece.. *shrug*

As for my art status, I haven't been doing too much in completing my works. I still need to finish Gabby's birthday picture (LATE LATE LATE) and some other extremely ANCIENT things >_>; I'm so ADD with things like this..

Uploaded a few more things for the RPG.. I haven't worked at all on the storyline..

Anyways, Katy will be happy because I finally bought my first SCC CD last week. It's the "All things New" CD. My mom really likes SCC's voice. (She's a hard-core Avalon fan.) JoC's new CD is coming out on March 22nd! *happy happy joy joy* (I am still a Jars of Clay fanatic @_@ Dan Haseltine is so talented..) And when will Mark Schultz's new CD come out? I'm so impatient, it's been almost two years since Stories and Songs ;__;

Gah... I left my bible at church ;___; I have to read out of my mom's old bible tonight now ;____; (I think she accidently took it from a pew O_o; But you didn't hear that from me..)

Anyhoo, I'll be running away again. Er.. beaver O_o;

...I'm starting to get sick again -_-;

Hi everyone, long time no see? ^_^;;

I was going through writer's block for my creative writing assignment, so I decided to rant online just because I can.

I went to the book store recently, and was looking through the art section. Honestly, there are fifty million different 'How to Draw Manga' books. Even though I really don't like them*, I decided to at least check them out to see if I could at least get some ideas.

I know that I shouldn't be making fun of them.. but I'm going to .__.;

DISCLAIMER: I am not claiming to be a better artist than ANYONE. I am a complete AMATEUR ARTIST with little experience and skill, so please do not take my following rantings as a blow to the 'professionals' and glory to me, because I don't mean it that way, whatsoever. At all. I just feel like ranting about it >_>;

First of all, their 'manga style' is TERRIBLE. It's like putting Sailor Moon and Superman in a blender. And most of the artists/instructors for these books are not even Japanese, so the styles have been Americanized DRAMATICALLY.

And they instruct you wrong too T_T; They gave an example of a 'Beginner's sketch, an Intermediate Sketch, and a Professional Sketch'. The intermediate sketch was tons better than the Professional O_o; Not to mention their proportions are really off, and their dynamic poses look really awkward. (I thought that one of the girls that they taught you how to draw was a guy ._.)

I know that in manga, the eyes are usually big, but not that big T_T; And what makes me even more mad is that some of the covers for the books has real art by actual, authentic Japanese artists, so it's misleading.

And there was one book where they tried to teach the reader how to CG... I'm not even going to go there.

So.. anyways.. if you plan on learning how to harness the Manga art style, get tutorials from experienced artists online. Don't waste your money T_T;

* I don't believe in 'How to Draw Manga' books because they instruct the learner to have one strict style-the artist of the book's style. Which means the artist's art will not be their genuine own, just the result of a bunch of circles and lines as instructed by the freaking book. So yes. I dont' know why I put this as a footnote.
